VANDA 'Luercharusmee'

Leurcharusmee is a healthy Vanda Orchid with large maroon-violet flowers with white spots around the center. It has 20 - 25 cms spike with 15 - 20 flowers

Watering Vanda

90% of the desperate enquiries regarding dying orchids to Sobha Orchids in 2009 were related to improper or over watering and poor drainage. Over watering will kill the plants faster than under watering.

Basket vandas however does need a lot of water. Vandas absorb water at a very slow rate. Roots, in Vanda represent less surface area and are mostly hanging in air. This gives them very less contact with water.

Watering continuously for 10-15 minutes is ideal for Vandas. The roots become green colour once they have absorbed enough water. To reduce the wasteful use of water, you could use the mist for 3-5 minutes three times a day. The last watering should be before dawn to prevent crown rot. Click here to read about crown rot
